Consumable innovation

Neopost is bringing a host of innovative consumables into the wide format market

In wide-format printing consumables are a vital element in any successful business, whether it is consumables to suit your current or planned equipment. Matching the correct applications to the correct media and ink/machine types be it aqueous, latex, solvent or UV based inks is vital to successful output and happy customer. In line with this understanding Neopost has put a continual process around ensuring it has the right media solutions to offer its customers. Morgan Quinn, wide format product manager at Neopost says the company is broadening its offering to meet market demands. He says, “Traditional offset printers are driving growth as they seek new revenue streams in large format, while innovation such as Latex is widening the market and making wide format more accessible to smaller print operations. To meet demand Neopost has extended its portfolio significantly and is educating its partners on digital alternatives to offset as the shift from analogue technology continues.

Today we are in a period of transition for many Australian printers. At Neopost we are confident we have chosen the best technologies to support this transition.” The company is continually looking for new media and new applications that can help its customers differentiate from the competition. These include new applications around window graphics, such as the new LG Hausys (LP3962) Ultraclear, offering highly transparent window graphics with a removable 90 micron self adhesive vinyl. Neopost says it is a more economical solution than traditional optically clear window films for promotional applications. Vivid Vision (LW01SP) is also from LG Hausys. It is a specially designed self-adhesive backlit film offering dual viewing capabilities with images viewed from inside appearing backlit during daytime hours and the same images appearing backlit afterhours from outside when an interior lightsource is applied or left on.

Neopost is currently launching a new media, StudioJet’s Smooth Dot, designed for retail applications, which it says eliminates the need for professional installers, delivering significant cost savings to printers. Everyone knows that installation is a costly business, and getting it right takes expertise. However SmoothDot has been developed to address these issues. Neopost says it is easy to apply, and is air bubblefree. It is also repositionable. It has been specifically developed for retail applications, which is currently the fastest growing area of wide format printing, with an estimated 20 per cent compound annual growth rate (CAGR). SmoothDot is 130 micron PVC with special dot shaped repositionable adhesive. It can be printed with solvent, latex and UV machines. It is available in matte and gloss finishes in both 1370mm and 1520mm rolls, both at 50 metres long.

Phyabae Leong, marketing and communications manager at Neopost Australia, says, “The print market is changing but your customers will continue to rely on you to deliver high quality printed products in quick time. Partnering with Neopost gives you the capability to enhance productivity, keep costs down, meet and exceed your clients’ expectations.”
